Are you looking for affordable dental implants in Bratislava?

Despite significant advancements in dental medicine, many people are to this day suffering from tooth loss. One of the solutions for this issue are dental implants. The advantages of dental implants are mainly an aesthetic natural look, durability, comfort, improved speech and worry free biting and eating as well as an increase in self confidence.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is an artificial part that is placed into the patient’s jaw, serving as a replacement for a missing root or a support for a bridge. The implant itself, is made from titanium. After it is placed in the patient’s jaw it grows together with bone, making it a rigid and stable part of your jaw. Due to its high quality properties, the same material that implants are made of, is also widely used in other medical fields, the most common applications being artificial joints.

Advantages of dental implants:

  • Dental prosthetics supported by dental implants look and feel like natural teeth
  • Dental implants provide a stable and rigid suppord for prosthetics without affecting healthy teeth
  • Dental implants usually do not get loose or fall out
  • Dental implants have a long durability, as long as the patient maintains a solid oral hygiene
  • Dental implants prevent a loss of bone in the jaw and offer support for adjacent teeth.

What are the stages of a dental implant treatment?

The treatment and replacement of lost teeth is made up of three phases: planning, surgical and prosthetic.

Step 1: Planning and diagnosis stage

Every dental implant treatment starts with a personal inspection by a dentist or surgeon. During the initial consultation the dentist will discuss all treatment possibilities, propose the best treatment option as well as answer all questions that the patient may have.

During the initial consultation we will also prepare a 3D dental x-ray, if the patient does not already have one. This x-ray is necessary in order to visualize the anatomy of the patient’s jaw and teeth, which serves to find out whether the patient is a suitable candidate for dental implants. At City Dental Clinic we believe that the planning stage is one of the most important stages of the entire treatment, as a well detailed and intelligently crafted plan lays the foundation for success.

Step 2: The surgical phase

During the surgical phase, which is carried out by our experienced dental surgeon, the dental implant is placed in the patient’s jaw. It will serve as a replacement root for the missing tooth and will connect to the bone in a process called osseointegration.

There are cases where the patient does not have a sufficient strong bone or not enough bone structure in the jaw to support a dental implant. For such type of patient it is necessary to first undertake a so called sinus lift or bone augmentation procedure.

Step 3: Prosthetic or reconstruction phase

In the third stage of the treatment it is time to prepare the dental prosthetics, which will be supported by the newly placed dental. After an initial healing phase of 8 weeks to 6 months, the patient should schedule an appointment with the dentist responsible for the prosthetics. The checkup by the surgeon and the dentist will ensure that the implants are healing as they should and that the structural integrity is sufficient to place a dental crown or other type of prosthetics on top of the implant.

As soon as the patient is given the OK, to receive the prosthetics, impressions will be taken and sent to the laboratory, where the made to measure crowns, bridges or fixed dentures will be prepared. In the final step of the entire treatment, after receiving the prepared dental prosthetics from the dental laboratory, the dentist will fit them to the patient’s mouth and ensure an ideal and comfortable fit.

Frequently asked questions about dental implants

We now have an FAQ list that we hope will help you answer some of the more common ones.

People who have lost one or multiple teeth as well as people who have wiggling or moving teeth may be a candidate for dental implants. The most common cases where we see such symptoms are from people who are active in contact sports or martial arts. In case you are facing one of these symptoms, you should schedule a consultation at our clinic, so that our dentist could inform you about possible remedies.

It should be said that dental implants are not recommended to everyone. While age is not an excluding factor, the state of general health, the gums and available bone structure can be determining factors. Additional factors that exclude people from being good candidates for dental implants are: excessive smoking, high consumption of alcohol, teeth gnashing, a significant problem with the gums, periodontal disease and autoimmune diseases.
During the initial implant consultation, the dentist will make sure to discuss all aspects with the patient, in order to find out whether the patient is a viable dental implant candidate.

Broken, chipped or missing teeth can have a serious impact on each and every one of us. This is down to the fact that a broken or chipped tooth will sooner or later suffer from an infection or inflammation, which will likely lead to dental caries. This in turn over time may lead to an inflammation of the gums which can affect the entire human organism.
Missing teeth affect the way we eat, impacting other healthy teeth as the load and pressure from biting has to be distributed toward the remaining teeth. In case you would like to consult any questions, feel free to contact us to schedule a consultation with one of our dentists.

At City Dental Clinic we work with local anesthesia, which ensures a numbness and prevents the patient from feeling any pain. In case you have any worries about possible pain, ask the dentist during the consultation about possible complications. It is our goal to help you restore your smile as soon as possible with maximum comfort.

The acceptance and healing of the implants takes anywhere from several weeks to several months. The specific needs and healing durations differ from patient to patient as this time depends on the general state of health, the state of the gums and the state of the available bone structure.
Our team of dentists will do everything to ensure the best possible outcome and will provide you with detailed instructions on how to take care of your newly placed dental implants.

The entire dental implant treatment can take anywhere from 6 weeks up to 6 months from start to finish. This all depends on the speed at which the implants heal in the patient’s body. Throughout the healing phase it is advisable to schedule regular check-up appointments in order to ensure an optimal healing process.
Besides their regular check-up appointments, patients are free to contact us at any time by phone or e-mail in order to discuss their specific needs during the healing phase.

Dental implants are used around the world, due to their longevity and high success rates. Several studies have been performed which indicate that there are many people who have implants for more than 30 years. To ensure a maximum lifetime for the dental implants it is of utmost importance to maintain a good level of oral hygiene and to regularly visit the dental office for dental hygiene and preventive check up appointments.

The costs of an entire dental implant treatment are dependent on various factors such as the dental clinic, the surgeon, the specific patient needs and of course the materials that are to be used for the implant and the crowns, bridges or prosthetics.
Throughout the consultation a patient will be presented with several options as well as the costs that come along with each treatment option.

Besides dental implants there is also the option to restore the smile with the help of bridges or partial dentures. Throughout the consultation the dentist will make sure to explain the pros and cons of each procedure so that the patient can make a well informed decision.
At City Dental Clinic we aim to deliver the best care for each patient. This is why give every patient as much time as he or she needs in order to decide which treatment to take up.
